This could be the end of the Clayton Richard experiment. Today the Cubs designated for assignment left-hander Clayton Richard to make room for newly acquired Aroldis Chapman.
The Cubs acquired Clayton Richard last season from the Pittsburgh Pirates. This season the 32-year-old struggled, he was 0-1 with a 6.43 ERA with striking out 7 and walking 7. His WHIP was at a career high 2.143.
According to Jesse Rodgers, Cubs hope he can clear waivers so he can pitch in the minors.
Whatever happens, we wish Clayton Richard the best!
