Ken Rosenthal is reporting the deal is worth $56 million over 4 years. Zobrist played for the Oakland A’s and Kansas City Royals. Zobrist hit .276 with 13 home runs and 56 RBIs last year.
There are a couple of concerns with signing Zobrist the first is he will be turning 35 years in May next season.
The second concern is where will he play? Zobrist is a slight upgrade from Chris Coghlan, but Coghlan doesn’t have a place to play.
This move led the Cubs to trade Starlin Castro, which you can read more about here. Zobrist will now be the starting second baseman for the Cubs next season.
