Momentum Shift in NLDS

A huge win for the Cubs today as they beat the Cardinals 6-3 to even up the series. Also ending a 7 game losing streak in the NLDS. Being down 0-2 to St. Louis Cardinals would have been impossible to come back from. The biggest reason why this was a huge win for the Cubs? Jake Arrieta.

Jake Arrieta will pitch game 3 on Monday. We all know Jake Arrieta is currently in the best stretch in MLB history and coming off a complete game shutout of the Pirates. With Jake on the mound, Cubs fans feel confident that they will win. Good reason to believe that the last time the Cubs lost a game while Arrieta was pitching July 25th when Cole Hamels no-hit the Cubs.

If the Cubs win on Monday they’ll be able to take a 2-1 lead. The Cardinals will send Lance Lynn, who the Cubs have hit well this year, or be forced to use Lackey on short rest. It’s better to have Lackey pitch game 4 on short rest than have him pitch the deciding game 5 on full rest.

This series has been exciting and the excitement will continue. The series is in the Cubs’ hands hopefully they can take advantage of the situation.
