NLDS Game 1: Cubs 0 – Cardinals 4

Game 1 of the NLDS was today and the Cubs offense was nowhere to be found.

The Cardinals got on the board in the first inning, after a Piscotty ground rule double, Matt Holiday singles to center field to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead.

Jon Lester and John Lackey both settled down and did not give up much.

Lackey gave up his first hit to Addison Russell in the 6th to lead off the inning. The Cubs best chance to score came in the 6th. With Russell on third and 2 outs, Dexter Fowler hit a ball to deep right field just shy off the wall for the third out.

Cardinals added on their lead in the 8th when pinch-hitter Tommy Pham hit a home run to left to give the Cardinals a 2-0 lead. After a walk to Carpenter, Jon Lester was done for the day.

Pedro Strop came in and gave up a 2 run home run to Piscotty giving the Cardinals a 4-0 lead.

Hopefully, the Cubs’ offense can come alive tomorrow only 3 hits today. Both Rizzo and Bryant have been hitless in 2 games so far.
