Win 96 Cubs 1 – Brewers 0

Kyle Hendricks was on the mound today for the Cubs trying to finish the season strong after a good September.

The Cubs got on the board in the second Chris Coghlan hit a triple with one out then Addison Russell hit a single to put the Cubs on the board.

In the top of the 5th, David Ross led off the inning with a walk. Kyle Hendricks then bunted Ross to second. Dexter Fowler then got an infield single moving David Ross to third. Tyler Wagner then got into trouble walking Kyle Schwarber to load the bases for Kris Bryant who struck out swinging. Anthony Rizzo grounded out missing an opportunity to score.

Kyle Hendricks was impressive as he allowed 1 hit and sticking out 8 in 6 innings. His perfect game was broken up by Martin Maldonado in the 6th inning.

Jorge Soler pitching hitting for Hendricks led off the 7th inning with a walk, the Dexter Fowler also walked. Austin Jackson pinch-hitting for Schwarber grounded out to third moving up both runners. Bryant stuck out and Rizzo field out to left field to end the inning.

Starlin Castro led off the inning with a walk, he was replaced by Quintin Berry. During Coghlan’s at-bat, Berry stole second and reached third on a throwing error by Maldonado. Coghlan, Russell, and Ross all struck out to end the inning.

Fernando Rodney pitched in the 8th he walked the first hitter Domingo Santana. After a strikeout of Shane Peterson, Hernan Perez singled, Santana moved to third. Rodney escaped the jam as Maldonado grounded into a double play.

Hector Rondon came in the ninth and retired all 3 hitters faced to give the Cubs their 96th win of the season.

    Hendricks is a great player. They’ve won seven in a row already, that’s fantastica. I’m sure they’ll win tomorrow too!!! 😃
