Jake Arrieta was dominate yet again against the Brewers receiving his 22nd win.
Both starting pitchers dominated until the third inning when the Cubs scored after an Addison Russell double Tommy La Stella hit a double to bring him in.
In the 4th inning Anthony Rizzo hit his 31st home run of the year to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the 5th La Stella led off the inning with a single to left. After a Dexter Fowler line out. Kyle Schwarber was hit by the pitch. Kris Bryant reached on after Schafer and Santana dropped the ball.
David Goforth came in to face Rizzo and Rizzo hit a single to drive in La Stella and Schwarber. Cubs lead 4-0
Russell led off the top of the 6th with a double to center field. Arrieta and La Stella both made outs then Fowler singled to score Russell. Cubs lead 5-0
Rizzo led off the top of the 7th with a walk then Starlin Castro hit a double to drive in Rizzo giving the Cubs a commanding 6-0 lead.
Arrieta pitched 6 innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 7.
Trevor Cahill came in to replace Arrieta in the 7th. First batter Cahill faced, Khris Davis, hit a solo shot to put the Brewers on the board.
Carl Edwards Jr. came in to get the last 3 outs striking out Jean Segura to end the ballgame and give the Cubs the win.
