Win 92 Cubs 4 – Reds 1

After a 2:30 rain delay the Cubs offense came out early. Dexter Fowler led off the game with a single. Kyle Schwarber then walked. After a Kris Bryant strikeout Anthony Rizzo was hit for the 30th time this season.

The bases were loaded for Tommy La Stella he hit a sac fly to center driving in Fowler. Miguel Montero then hit a double to right fielding scoring in Schwarber and Rizzo. Javier Baez singled to right scoring Montero. Baez was able to make it to third on a Jay Bruce throwing error. Cubs scored 4 runs in the first inning.

Cubs missed an opportunity to score in the third inning as Chris Coghlan struck out with the bases loaded to end the inning.

La Stella gets hit by the pitch to lead off the top of the 7th. Then Miguel Montero walked to bring up Javier Baez.

Dan Haren was taken out in the 8th after allowing a 1 out double to Tucker Barnhart. Dar Haren went 7.1 innings, allowing 0 runs, 3 hits, and had 6 strikeouts

The Reds led off the 9th with Jason Bourgeois ended up on third after Austin Jackson couldn’t see the ball. Ivan De Jesus Jr out to Rizzo scoring Bourgeois. After Edwards walked Votto, Travis Wood got Skip Schumaker to ground into a game ending double play.

Milestones: Anthony Rizzo was hit for the 30th time this season becoming the second player ever to hit 30 home runs and be hit 30 times. Don Baylor was the first in 1986. Dexter Fowler scored his 100th run of the season. Miguel Montero drove in his 500th and 501st career RBIs.
